Mr Hamaundu said as far as he was concerned the council had halted the demolition of the over 200 shops illegally constructed at the market.
He said LCC was in a better position to answer but that the ministry did not give any order to demolish structures at the market.
“I think the council are in a better position of answering but what I know is that they did not raze any facilities at COMESA Market,” he said.
Meanwhile, efforts to get LCC Public Relations Manager Chola Kakoma proved futile as her line was constantly busy.
Recently, 10 shops at COMESA were demolished by unknown people after LCC issued a statement that they would raze 236 illegally constructed shops.
Some traders woke up to a rude shock after they found their shops demolished even after the Minister Garry Nkombo had advised to the contrary.
