ELEVEN Japanese companies are in the country to explore investment opportunities.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on President Hakainde Hichilema yesterday at State House, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nishimura Yasutoshi said the companies would participate in a business roundtable with the Government and the private sector.
Mr. Yasutoshi said Japan wants to broaden its economic cooperation with Zambia especially in mineral exploration.
He said Japan will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zambia in areas around mineral exploration.
Speaking at the same meeting, President Hichilema asked Japan to set up processing companies here for minerals that they are interested in.
The President said this is to ensure that value is added to the country’s raw materials to create jobs and wealth for Zambians.
President Hichilema added that doing so will see the interests of both countries attended to mutually.
And, Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga said the Zambia Development Agency will lead the Zambia -Japan Business roundtable to be held in Lusaka. – ZNBC
