Dr Mpombo said the recent announcement by Mines and Minerals Development Minister Paul Kabuswe was a political charade that amounted to betrayal of confidence the people had put in them.
He said the minister raised the people’s confidence especially those on the Copperbelt who were highly expectant.
“What the minister has done is puncturing and deflating the people’s confidence because they were too expectant,” he said.
Dr Mpombo said Mr Kabuswe was creating confusion in the minds of Zambians by the deception they were planting.
He advised Zambians to take whatever Mr Kabuswe was saying with a pinch of salt because he had proved that he could not be trusted.
Dr Mpombo said the UPND did not master the art of good governance and that this would have a negative impact if not properly handled.
“It’s really unfortunate that the government and the Mines minister are not telling the truth about the happenings at KCM and Mopani Copper Mines.”
