OPPOSITION political party leaders have been intimidated into silence and are scared of getting arrested if they speak out against Government, New Revolution Party (NRP) president, Cosmo Mumba has said.
Dr Mumba said most opposition leaders including himself were afraid to speak out because of the brutality of the police and other law enforcement agencies.

He said it was unfortunate that the democratic space was shrinking due to the brutal manner the United Party for National Development (UPND) was treating its political opponents. “Most of us are scared to talk because if we do, the result will be an abduction as we have seen from our colleagues that have been maliciously detained without following procedure,” he said.
Dr Mumba appealed to Government to restore the rule of law because there were many scary things going on.
He warned that the country would degenerate into chaos if nothing was done to deffuse the escalating political tensions. He said in opposition, President Hakainde Hichilema vowed to restore the rule of law but that it was shocking that he had reneged on his promises.
Dr Mumba said opposition leaders were being victimised on a daily basis to the extent that they were now fearing for their lives.
He also said President Hichilema should consider reshuffling his Cabinet as most of his ministers were underperforming.
Dr. Mumba said a cabinet reshuffle would enhance efficiency in the cabinet.
