MINISTRY of Information and Media Director Spokesperson Thabo Kawana says Government’s key agenda is ensuring that the education sector thrives as it a catalyst to poverty reduction.
Speaking at the ongoing Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola, Mr. Kawana said education plays a pivotal role in the country’s economy, hence ensuring that every Zambian child has the opportunity to go to school.

He said the Ministry of Education can be benchmarked at a hundred percent as it has and continues to deliver to the Zambians’ expectations.
Mr. Kawana has since appealed to the ministry to continue on the same path so that other ministries can emulate the working culture.
“To us we are ever so proud and that is why in our little way, we do everything possible to support the Ministry of Education.
The ministry has also set up health rooms in primary and combined schools in which learning institutions have partnered with the Ministry of Health in training teachers in the management of common illnesses in schools.
“This initiative has significantly reduced absenteeism in schools as learners are attended to and treated by trained teachers without interrupting their academic activities,” he says.
