ESWATINI international defender, Lindo Mkhonta says Zesco United players are not under pressure as they prepare to face Kitwe giants Nkana FC in tomorrow’s FAZ Week-33 fixture at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Mkhonta said Zesco United are ready for the battle against the Kitwe giants who celebrated a 1-0 win the last time the two sides faced off.
The international defender who signed a two-year deal in January said Zesco is motivated ahead of the Nkana fixture after overcoming Nchanga Rangers last weekend.
“We are very motivated especially after beating Nchanga Rangers. Saturday’s game against Nkana is very key to us as such we are taking it very seriously. We not panicking or under pressure because these are games that keeps you motivated,” Mkhonta said.
And Mkhonta is delighted with his performance since joining the team in January.
He remains committed to helping the George Lwandamina-tutored Ndola giants achieve their objective of qualifying for the CAF Confederations Cup.
“I am happy with what I have so far contributed to the team. When I came in January, we were sitting on 12th position and now we have moved to third. It shows that we have made a lot of progress. United is a big team which should be playing CAF and that is still our dream,” he said.
United like the rest of the teams play the last two games of the season with a mouthwatering fixture against Nkana before concluding the league on May 27, 2023 against Forest Rangers.
With the league title already in Power Dynamos hands, the focus has now shifted towards who finishes second.
Muza FC, Zesco United, Napsa Stars, Green Buffaloes and Green Eagles are all in contention for a CAF Confederations Cup slot.
