THE Patriotic Front (PF) in North-Western province have described the utterances against former President Edgar Lungu by Vice President Mutale Nalumango during the commemoration of the Kenneth Kaunda Day in Lusaka as uncalled for.
On Friday during the commemoration, Ms Nalumango asked former President Lungu what legacy he had left in the country which Zambians would remember him for.
“Ba Lungu, how are we going to remember you?” asked the Vice President.

But the former ruling party in North-Western have condemned the statement by Ms Nalumango and have since called on the Vice President to withdraw it and apologise to the former head of State.
PF provincial chairperson Enock Kapalu wondered why the entire republican Vice President could utter such words when the legacy left by the former President was speaking for him.
Mr Kapalu stated that President Lungu’s legacy was there for all Zambians to see and that it was disrespectful for Ms Nalumango to choose to ridicule him at an event that was meant to honour Zambia’s founding father and first republican President.
Mr Kapalu stated that the biggest legacy former President Lungu left was to keep the country peaceful from the time he took over from Mr Michael Sata until he handed over power without causing strife.
He said despite a lot of electoral anomalies in the 2021 general elections, President Lungu took a right path by conceding defeat and handed over power peacefully.
“Apart from that, the infrastructure that is being used today by the same vice president including President Hakainde Hichilema himself was done by the previous regime under President Lungu. So, as a party we found that statement as uncalled for especially that it coming from a person of her caliber and status,” said Mr Kapalu. He said the men and women in uniform were enjoying decent accommodation due to the previous government’s desire to invest in that area.
He said as for the people of North-Western Province, Mr Lungu will be remembered for tarring the Solwezi Chingola road, connecting all districts to the national electricity grid, the setting of the Kalene Fruit factory among other projects.
Mr Kapalu has since challenged Vice President Nalumango to point at any project she left in Kaputa when she saved as Member of Parliament for over two terms and as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
