GOVERNMENT has appealed to former President Edgar Lungu to work with President Hakainde Hichilema in order to find solutions for the challenges the country is facing.
Ministry of Information and Media Director Spokesperson Thabo Kawana said the former head of State is experienced in the affairs of the nation and that it was only prudent that President Hichilema and his predecessor should work together to ensure that the country’s economic challenges were addressed for the good of Zambia.

Speaking when he appeared on Millennium TV, the Platform Programme, Mr Kawana said Zambians at this point were looking up to former President Lungu to help provide solutions to ensure that the country’s economy was rejuvenated.
Mr Kawana said it would be impressing and encouraging to see the two leaders work together to rescue Zambians from the challenges they were facing.
“Let him now work for the nation, and when he is working for the nation, he is working for his younger brother President Hakainde Hichilema. President Lungu can get a chopper go around the country and see the challenges the people are facing then come back to his brother and tell him; Mr President I found out that these are the challenges the people are facing and we need to do this and this.”
“There are summits and engagements which are out there and President should be able to say my big brother I am able to go there would you please go and represent me. That is kind of relationship we want to see,” Mr Kawana said.
He said, former President Lungu needed to enjoy his status as statesman instead of calling for his return to active politics because the former head of State had announced his retirement from active politics.
