THE damning silence over the Sugilite scandal is an indication that some high-ranking government and UPND officials could be involved because no one has been arraigned before the courts of law over the scandal., Antonio Mwanza has claimed.

Mr Mwanza, the Patriotic Front (PF) media director believes that some senior members of the United Party for National Development (UPND) could be involved in the Sugilite scandal because no individuals have appeared before court despite those implicated claiming that big wigs were involved.
Mr Mwanza is therefore demanding for an update on the scandal that saw the dismissal of some senior government officials because a lot of money was at stake, stating that if nothing came out, it would be confirmation of an intricate syndicate which could have comprised senior UPND members.
He said he did not trust the government and that there was need for people that were implicated to be brought to book.
“The way things stand seems like a cohort and if we are not careful, the impounded Sugilite would vanish since there is a serious syndicate working behind the scenes,” Mr Mwanza said.
Mr Mwanza said there was too much secrecy about this issue and that the head of state needed to show leadership by dealing with some of the senior members like ministers that were fingered to be fired.
He said that by ignoring the matter most Zambians would conclude that the deal had the blessings of the head of state.
