THE new dawn administration should state its official position on the National House of Prayer which was commissioned by the previous government and was being constructed by the Zambia Army (ZA), Golden Party President Jackson Silavwe has demanded.
Mr Silavwe said the construction of the National House of Prayer was well received by a cross section of believers in the country where more than 85% of the population professes the Christian Faith.
“As much as we cannot dictate governance priorities of President Hichilema and his administration, it is only prudent that the Government should officially states the fate of the National House of Prayer during their tenure,” Mr Silavwe said.
He said in a statement that there was need for the UPND government to clearly state the way forward for the House of Prayer especially now that the rainy season is here and time is quickly moving.
Mr Silavwe said, left unattended to, the building would become weaker and construction materials could easily be misappropriated or even wasted which would be wasting national resources.
He said President Hichilema needed to state his position especially after the country had seen him continuing most of the projects that the previous government had left, as the National House of Prayer was but one of the many projects that were started by the Patriotic Front (PF) while in government.
“Has President Hichilema and his government abandoned the building of the National House of Prayer. And what IS the status of the project at present? Is the new dawn government intending to sell the structure or complete it? What is the way forward? People needed to know,” Mr Silavwe said.
Mr Silavwe said the government needed to give an official position on the construction of the National House of Prayer in public interest.
