STATE witnesses in the Mumbi Phiri and Shebby Chilekwa murder case have sharply contradicted each other on how many bullets could have killed Lawrence Banda with Dr Adam Muchelenganga telling the Mongu High Court that the deceased died with a single bullet while Dr Stan Israel Kaputula who was at the Kaoma Hospital at the time testified that before the court that two bullets could have killed Banda and not one.
Meanwhile, Mucheleng’anga told the Mongu High Court that Banda, the slain UPND cadre was alive at the rime he was taken to Kaoma hospital after he was allegedly short by a Patriotic Front member.
Dr Kaputula has contradicted the testimony given earlier by a Doctor from UTH, Pathologist Dr. Adam Mcheleng’anga, who said there was only one entry point on the head.
And Dr Mucheleng’anga last week failed to answer several questions when he was being cross examined by Counsels Makebi Zulu and Jannas Zimba during the trial of Mumbi Phiri and Shebby Chilekwa in the murder case of Banda, the UPND cadre.
Dr Mucheleng’anga, a State forensic expert told the Mongu High Court presided over by Charles Zulu that Banda (slain) was brought to Kaoma hospital alive and that doctors at the time performed intervention in an attempt to resuscitate him.
He told the Court that there were some medical interventions on Banda and that such interventions were only carried out when someone was alive.
Asked if it was his submission that Band’a would could only have been cause by a projectile, Dr Mucheleng’anga failed to answer the question and opted to remain silent.
And when asked if according to him, a projectile could only be a bullet from a gun, Dr Mucheleng’anga failed to answer the question and again opted for silence.
Meanwhile, the Daily Nation has been informed that the handbag that was found where Banda was lying after being shot did not belong to Ms Mumbi Phiri but for a Ms Bona Lubasi.
