THE Patriotic Front (PF) needs a firm leader with no skeletons in the closet who can take on the UPND which at the moment is very wounded and will stop at nothing but finish the party, former PF General secretary Davis Mwila and national mobilization chairperson Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba have said.
Mr Mwila in an interview said that the party needed to thoroughly scrutinize those that were eyeing the presidency because if an individual with a questionable character was appointed then the party would be annihilated as the UPND would use the skeletons to kill the PF.
And Mr Mwamba said that the party needed an individual that could take on President Hakainde Hichilema head on and not one that would be bullied by this regime.
Meanwhile Mr Mwila said the delegates needed to be sure that the person to take over from former President Edgar Lungu was one who could not ditch the party at the last minute.
He said it would be very difficult for an individual who has corruption tags around him to go head to head with President Hichilema because he would make sure that he used that against him by unleashing the investigative wings on them.
Mr Mwila said that he had been in the game for a long time and that some leaders did not have the skill to organise and even mobilise funds for the party.
He said that running a party needed resources therefore those that were eyeing the presidency needed these attributes.
The PF recently indicated that they had pegged the nomination fees presidential candidates at K200, 000 for male candidates and K100, 000 for female candidates ahead of the general convention.
