THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX: THE BENEFITS
Dear Editor,
THE sky is not the limit when thinking outside the box. Proper laws, policies and theories, are the enabling environment.
Applying the thinking outside the box theory, Elon Musk ended 2021 with a personal fortune of $273.5 billion, followed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as the world’s second wealthiest person with $194.2bn and LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault with $177.1bn.
Rounding off the top five was Bill Gates with $138.3bn and Google co-founder Larry Page on $129.5bn.
Elon’s fortune is more than 10 times Zambia’s GDP. Put differently, Elon’s wealth is more than 27 times Zambia’s 2022 budget. His taxes for 2021 totalled $11bn, which is $1bn more than Zambia’s 2022 budget.
The onus is on Government to provide an enabling environment (proper laws and policies) for great thinkers to apply their theories and make big money in terms of personal fortunes and treasury revenue.
Think outside the box! Your poverty is self-inflicted.
PETER SINKAMBA.
