REINFORCE the five golden rules in the prevention of Covid-19 in public places alongside vaccination to bring down the escalating number of cases, the Bishops Council of Zambia (BCZ) has said.BCZ General Secretary Bishop Abel Kaela said the levels of prevention in markets, bus stations, and public transport have drastically reduced as people are no longer complying with the golden rules on prevention such as masking up and washing of hands.Bishop Kaela said in an interview that vaccination alone would not help bring down the high number of cases that are being recorded every day unless people adhere to the preventive measures. “Covid vaccines alone would not bring down the number of cases which were almost zero at some point. The five golden rules should be reinforced and masking up should be taken seriously,” he said.He urged the Minister of Health, Ms Sylvia Masebo not to drop the guide and personally go around markets and bus stations to check on the compliance levels.Bishop Kaela also urged the new dawn government to adopt some of the good measures that the previous leadership put in place to prevent the spread of the virus such as engaging the committees in markets and bus stations to reinforce the preventive measures.
