OMCAZ appeals for tax waiver extension
The Oil Marketing Companies Association of Zambia (OMCAZ) has appealed to government to extend the waiver for fuel imports.
OMCAZ President Kafula Mubanga said the reintroduction of fuel Levy at the point of entry was likely to affect supply as OMCs did not provide for that in their fuel procurement plans.
He said the cost was also not included in the revised fuel price build up recently announced by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB).
Dr Mubanga said close to 1000 trucks were marooned at the border awaiting clearance from ZRA, adding that delay might affect availability of fuel in service stations which might compromise the national fuel stock security in the country.
Dr Mubanga further said some filling stations on the Copperbelt and other places had started running out of fuel and that this may cause panic buying for fuel and create supply insecurity.
He appealed to Government to harmonize reintroduction of the waiver with the ERB price build up
