A MAN of Lusaka’s Ngwerere area has been dragged to court for stealing a 50kg bag of maize worth K150 property of Omelly Nsumbokela.
Allegations are that, Gift Hamugale on October 1, 2021 did steal one 50 kilograms of maize worth K150 with no lawful authority.
Omelly Nsumbokela, 54, a farmer of Mungule Village in Ngwerere area Central Province, said on the date mentioned, in the morning when she woke up, she noticed that the door of her house was open when she left it locked, and found her bag of Maize was missing out of the eight bags she had in the house.
She said it was Hamugale’s mother who told her that her son was the one who took the bag and she even directed her to where it was sold.
And George Tembo, 48, a police officer, said on October 2, 2021 he recorded a docket of theft which occurred around 02:00 -03:00 hours, and that he was later led to the scene.
Police warned and cautioned the suspect in the language he understood better and he accepted the charge, and the bag of maize was recovered. The matter is set to come up on January 25, 2022 for continued trial.
