K324M EDUCATION FUND NOT ENOUGH

THE National Union for Private and Public Educators in Zambia (NUPPEZ) says the release of K324 million towards the operational support for public schools may not allow schools to invest in extra curricula activities.
The union’s executive president, Mr Victor Muyumba said the amount allocated to public schools has not increased but has remained at the same amount which was paid by parents.
Meanwhile, Patriotic Front presidential hopeful Emmanuel Mwamba says the K324 million allocated to public schools for actualisation of free education is not enough considering the high number of schools.
Mr Mwamba said while he appreciates the release of K1.284 billion of which K960 million will be payment made to farmers owed by the Food Reserve Agency (FRA), the money allocated to the education sector is not enough.
