WHATEVER policies the government implements, it should ensure that they don’t make the poor Zambians poorer, the Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has advised.
Father Emmanuel Chikoya said the yardstick of policies that the government put in place should be aimed at dignifying the lives of Zambians.
He said in an interview that the government should always remember to put a human face on all decisions made and to achieve that, it should avoid hast commitments.
“Ultimately what we need is to see people living a dignified life, whatever decisions are made should have a human face and a fair approach should be gradual in the approach,” he said.
Father Chokoya said the new dawn government should ensure that people are able to afford decent meals as they promised during the election campaigns.
He said it’s the hope and prayer of the church that Zambians lead a life that is dignified in all the commitments that the government makes.
“We appeal to the government, the leader, whatever they do, they should not do things that compromise the situation of Zambians in terms of their capacity to make ends meet,” he said.
