GOVERNMENT has urged all traditional leaders to be involved and give guidance on how the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) should be used in rural development.
Small and Medium Enterprises Minister, Elias Mubanga said it was the desire of the government to see the traditional leaders have a say on how the CDF should be used in their chiefdoms.
Mr Mubanga said chiefs were strategic partners in development whose involvement in CDF planning was vital.
He also said the government wanted to leave no stone unturned in its quest to empower the local people.
Meanwhile, Chief Mukwikile has thanked Government for implementing various empowerment schemes aimed at ending poverty among the local people.
Chief Mukwikile said the decentralised system by the administration was welcomed as it would ensure that all Zambians, including those in rural areas were involved in the country’s development agenda.
He said the decentralisation of various policies and creation of government ministries like the Small and Medium Enterprise Development would not only empower a lot of people especially the youth but also help them create wealth and sustain their livelihoods.
