ZANACO FC coach Kelvin Kaindu is still hopeful that they can still dislodge Nkwazi to finish the first round in the top six and qualify for the lucrative ABSA Cup.
Currently occupying 11th position on the Super League table with 22 points, Zanaco will have to beat Red Arrows 4-0 in their final rescheduled fixture to qualify for the ABSA Cup which features the best six teams from the Super League and two from the National Division One League.
Kaindu believes the bankers are strong enough to upset the odds and break Nkwazi’s hearts to qualify for the ABSA Cup.
Kaindu is however worried with the numbers of goals they will have to score to secure the ABSA Cup slot.
“Hope is still there. Maybe the only disadvanatge is the goals we need to score but we still have hope if we can replicate the performance we showed against Warriors or against Zesco in the last two games, we are now sure that we have a formidable team and the team cohesion is slowly showing,” Kaindu said.
He said he was not happy with the way the team competed in the first round of the season where they lost games to Indeni, Nkwazi, Konkola Blades and Green Buffaloes.
Kaindu said it was a challenging first round for the Bankers who are also the country’s sole representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Kaindu reaffirmed the bankers’ aim to finish the league strong after being motivated by a positive first round finish following victory over Kabwe Warriors in their last game at Godfrey Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe.
