UNIDENTIFIED people have murdered a 32-year-old woman and her baby in cold blood in Mboya area in Luanshya’s Mikomfwa Township.
The victim, identified as Ms Aproscina Chibwe was found naked in her bed with a stab wound in her stomach, while her baby was placed in an upside down position in a bucket half-filled with water.
The victims, suspected to have been killed on Thursday evening were discovered in their house in a decomposed state on Saturday night around 21:00 hours.
Loveness Mwansa, Ms Chibwe’s daughter made the gruesome discovery when she went to spend a night at her mother’s house who only lived with her one-year-old baby.
Luanshya mayor Charles Mulenga described the incident as unfortunate and appealed to anyone in the community with relevant information related to the incident to cooperate with the police.
Mr Mulenga however commended the police and the Mboya community for the quick mobilisation of resources to facilitate the burial of the two victims.
Some police officers, public health officers, and a pathologist were by broadcast time present at the scene and samples for postmortem have since been collected.
Ms Chibwe and her baby have since been put to rest at Luanshya cemetery. – ZANIS.
