I WILL keep a watchful eye on the Farmers Input Support Programme (FISP) to ensure that only deserving farmers are on the scheme, Chasefu Independent Member of Parliament Misheck Nyambose has said.
Mr Nyambose said previously, some ghost farmers had been on FISP thereby depriving deserving citizens from benefitting the subsidised inputs.
He said working with relevant authorities in his constituency, he would ensure that only beneficiaries of FISP are served.
Mr Nyambose also disclosed that he had a meeting with President Hakainde Hichilema last Thursday in Lusaka where they shared his vision for the country and Chasefu constituency in particular.
He pledged to work with President Hichilema because he was determined to help him develop his constituency.
Mr Nyambose also expressed optimism that the UPND government would improve the agriculture sector because President Hichilema as a farmer himself was concerned about the challenges facing the sector.
“I want to state on behalf of the people of Chasefu how committed and inclusive our President is on his developmental agenda. I am very convinced that in the next five years this country and Chasefu in particular will not be the same again,” Mr Nyambose said.
He said the President had assured him that the Lundazi – Chama Road woold be worked on, and the stalled Chasefu Boarding Secondary School which is at 80 percent would be completed soon.
“We also discussed women and youth empowerment. You may wish to know that the President and his new dawn government has taken empowerment very seriously hence he has put more than K800, 000 in the 2022 CDF budget,” he said.
Mr Nyambose said the conversation he had with President Hichilema was broad such that he felt energised and motivated to continue working and supporting him until he succeeded in his agenda to uplift not only the people of Chasefu but Zambia as a whole.
