Dear Editor,
IS it wrong to pay tax?
No, it is not wrong to pay tax. Since we believe that the tax we pay is the money our government uses to run our affairs and build common structures such as roads, bridges, schools and hospitals.
Though the government can borrow, such borrowing should be within acceptable limits and Parliament should consent.
Now, it is important to understand that tax can only be thelft if the government does not check embezzlement as it was in the previous government of the Patriotic Front.
They have a good name and sound excellently as Patriotic Front Political Party.
This implies that first and foremost they are patriotic Zambians at the same time they are the first in the realm of patriotism to our country Zambia.
Fellow Zambians, in the democratic multi-party systems like ours, it is extremely important to understand words and the matching of the “walking the talk” as most politicians would like to say, sounding as though their words and their wide smile can produce corn.
It is important to ask ourselves as citizens because we are the ones who own The Zambian Government and the State of our Republic, Zambia.
A kalo kesu abuta n’ga akasuba (Our Zambia in the Sun).
Is the running of Government or their behaviour matching with the name of their political party?
Patriotism would imply unquestionable personal integrity to the nation and its government.
Now, tax becomes theft if the government is not checking misuse of public funds.
Such people who embezzle public properties, it is wise that they are taken to Correctional Centres so that they may become good and patriotic citizens.
