A lone criminal armed with two pistols has shot dead an Indian national in Kitwe’s Parklands area while one is battling for his life at the Kitwe Teaching Hospital.
The incident happened after the criminal robbed four Indian businessmen of 9,000 Kwacha.
The four businessmen are proprietors of the Super Save shopping Complex in Parklands.
RUSHABH SHARMA, 23 who is nursing a bullet wound on his right leg confirmed the death of his elder brother KARTIK LIMBCHIYA, 26 who succumbed around 01 hours this morning.
He said the armed robber broke into their house and opened fire after demanding for money.
Mr.SHARMA narrated to Copperbelt Acting Police Commanding Officer TRESPHORD KASALE when he visited the scene that the criminal fired fifteen times at the windows and doors of house threatening the occupants to surrender the money.
He said the bullet which killed his brother penetrated through the door of the sitting room and went through the back of his lower limb as he tried to block the criminal from entering the house.
Mr.SHARMA who took round the Copperbelt Acting Police Commanding inside the house where a pool of blood was found said the criminal persistently demanded for money while dragging the deceased.
He said upon giving him the money he later tied two of his brothers to a swing outside the house.
Mr.SHARMA said the criminal still demanded for more money and compelled him to go the shop to get the money.
He said it is at the time when he ran away and called police at Riverside Police station, who rushed to the house in Parklands but found the criminal had already escaped.
Police and the family members later rushed the injured to the hospital where LIMBCHIYA was pronounced dead as a result of excessive bleeding.
And Copperbelt Acting Police Commanding, TRESPHORD KASALE, has described the act as barbaric.
Mr. KASALE appealed to members of the Public to help police with information over the case.
