EIGHT Patriotic Front (PF) members of Parliament, have applied to the High Court for judicial review of the decision of the Speaker of National Assembly, Ms Nelly Mutti, to expel them from Parliament on account of their seats being nullified.
The MPs have made an application for judicial review of the decision of the Speaker which has caused an uproar in the country.
On Tuesday, Ms Mutti ruled that the affected MPs, whose elections were nullified by the High Court, would not sit in Parliament, effectively ejecting the nine from the house.
In the application filed yesterday by lawyers Makebi Zulu Advocates, the eight MPs have applied for an inter parte summons for leave to apply for judicial review pursuant to the provisions of order 53 rule 3 of the rules of Supreme Court.
The lawyers will appear before Judges Gertrude Chawatama, Kombe and Wanjeleni tomorrow.
The eight MPs include Bowman Lusambo, Lukas Simumba, Kalalwe Mukosa, Mutotwe Kafwaya, Taulo Chewe, Chibuye Christopher, Joseph Malanji and Allen Banda.
Ms Sibongile Mwamba, the MP to have suffered the same fate, is not part of the action.
