LET us rally behind whoever is picked to represent the party in the upcoming January 20 Kabwata parliamentary by-election, PF acting Secretary General, Nickson Chilangwa has said.
Mr Chilangwa who yesterday met all PF aspiring candidates for the forthcoming Kabwata by-election appealed to the aspirants to support whoever the PF Central Committee will eventually adopt as the party’s candidate for Kabwata.
The candidates included Clement Tembo, Gabriel Kibombwe, Patrick Mwape and Ms Nalishebo Sinyama.
“I want to appeal to all the aspiring candidates to rally behind whoever the PF Central Committee will eventually adopt as the party’s candidate for Kabwata,” Mr Chilangwa said.
And Mr Tembo in a separate interview said that the meeting was more reconciliatory and aimed at uniting the aspirants who had vowed to work as a team.
He said the meeting was needed and that it had achieved its intended goals but indicated that some things could not be disclosed because they were in house.
“I just want to say it was a good meeting which was attended by the four applicants including Mr Danny Yenga, who previously contested but came out second during the August 12 election but had indicated that he will support whoever will come out victorious,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by PF Lusaka district chairman, Forbes Kafwaya and his counterpart, the Lusaka District Chairlady Timeke Chirwa.
The PF nominations for Kabwata are slated for December 28, 2021 and follows the death of the late Kabwata MP, Levy Mkandawire of the United Party for National Development.
