Tough economic decisions to bring hardships – EAZ
By MUKWIMA CHILALA
THE new dawn government’s economic pronouncements will hurt Zambians in the short term.
Economic Association of Zambia (EAZ) Deputy National Secretary Rita Mkandawire charges that the new dawn has embarked on un- popular journey in prioritiz- ing economic development.
Ms. Mkandawire says the government is looking at the long term development as opposed to the short term and people will pay the price in the short term while it may come with so much benefits in the next few years.
And Private Sector Development Association executive Director Yusuf Dodia has expressed concern that the government has failed to give a clear mining policy in its first 100 days in government.
Mr Dodia charges that government has allowed the Mining companies to
arm twist it and in turn con- trolling all Mining exports despite the Mining sector exporting 20 million tons of copper every day to which it controls the foreign exchange in Zambia.
Meanwhile Patriots for Economic Progress Party President Sean Tembo has charged that the Zambian people have suffered a lot of hardships and were hopeful that the new dawn adminis- tration would bring a lot of relief in its economic Policies.
