THE Ministry of Health has invited private hospitals to assist in the administering of Covid-19 jabs countrywide to help curb the spread of the pandemic.
Ministry of Health spokesperson, Abel Kabalu, said that there was need for private hospitals to assist Government in the administering of Covid-19 doses to ensure that more people were vaccinated.
Dr Kabalu said currently, vaccinations were being done by the government but that it would be better if the private sector came on board.
He said he was not aware of any private hospital that was administering vaccines but that people were free to assist with the process.
Dr Kabalu said that as far as he was concerned, currently there were no hospitals that were administering but that people were free to come on board and help Government fight the pandemic.
“At the moment, it’s just the ministry that is conducting the process but we would like to invite private hospitals to join forces to help us fight the pandemic,” he said.
Dr Kabalu however said that vaccinations were free and that people needed not charge anyone as the government had indicated that they were not for sale.
He said that the ministry would not spare anyone who was selling Covid-19 vaccinations in the country because it was a free exercise.
“As you are aware, vaccines are free so people should not pay anything whether at a private, worse off a government hospital,” Dr Kabalu said.
