ZESCO United moved to fourth on the MTN/FAZ Super division table after recording a 1-1 stalemate against Buildcon FC in a guarded Ndola derby played yesterday in Ndola.
Zlatko Krmpotic’s men began the week 15 rescheduled fixture aggressively and missed a couple of chances which could have seen them going ahead in the early stages of the game.
Buildon however put up a spirited performance to deny the Ndola giants from finding the back of the net.
Zesco were rewarded three minutes before the half time whistle when Jessy Were found the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the 2016 league runners up.
Buidcon however stunned Zesco when Maisha Chavda scored the equalizer eight minutes into the second half.
The draw becomes Zesco’s first in the last three matches having beaten Nkwazi and Real Nakonde in the last two league games.
Zesco beat Real Nakondo 1-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium before humbling police sponsored Nkwazi 2-0 at their home ground.
After the Ndola derby stalemate, Zesco moves to 23 points on par with Power Dynamos and Red Arrows who are fifth and sixth respectively.
Buildcon on the other hand maintains thirteenth position on the league table with 19 points, on par with 12th placed Green Eagles who have a better goal difference of five goals.
Buildcon will now travel to Lusaka for a date against Army Sponsored Green Buffaloes in the week sixteen fixture while Zesco United will await the visit of Forest Rangers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
