MUTALE Nalumango and Garry Nkombo must apologise to the nation for parading naked women at the UPND secretariat in protest over their incarcerated leader Hakainde Hichilema during Africa Freedom Day, Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka province chairman Kennedy Kamba has demanded.
And Mr. Kamba has revealed that the planned UPND protest during the Africa Freedom Day celebrations was meant to cause anarchy, disturb public peace and attract some international attention.
On Thursday, UPND national chairperson Ms Nalumango and Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Mr Nkombo paraded naked, old and desperate drunk young men protesting UPND leader Mr. Hichilema arrest on treason charges.
“It is immoral that Ms. Nalumango and Mr. Nkombo had their clothes on while their rented crowd was asked to remove their clothes all to drive a political point on criminal charges being faced by Hichilema.
“We are shocked that a fellow woman and a mother for that matter had no sense of shame in asking her fellow women to undress before the cameras simply because they are poor,” Mr. Kamba said.
He has called on the Church and women movement in the country to condemn cheap political manoeuvres orchestrated by Ms Nalumango and Mr. Nkombo.
“Maybe it could have made a difference had they (Ms Nalumango and Mazabuka MP Garry Nkombo) also stripped naked.
“We call on all Zambians of goodwill to condemn these levels of desperation by the UPND that got to the extent of stripping our mothers of their dignity, all because they are poor,” he said.
Mr. Kamba wondered where Mrs Mutinta Hichilema, Ms Martha Mushipe, and other women in the UPND were to lead the procession.
“Are they more of women and mothers than the old women they paraded naked yesterday?
“We demand that Ms. Nalumango personally apologizes to our mothers. Why should Mutale Nalumango, Garry Nkombo and others have their clothes on while they parade naked poor, old women and desperate drunk young men?” he asked.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kamba said the Zambia Police Service should be commended for having kept vigil during the Africa Freedom Day celebrations when the UPND members exposed bare breasts and underwear in protest of the incarceration of Mr. Hichilema.
“Their plan to participate in the Africa Freedom Day celebrations was aimed at causing confusion and as much as possible, they planned to embarrass His Excellency the President of Zambia Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
“The Zambia Police and other security agencies should be commended for having kept vigil and being on high alert and ensured public peace was preserved and the rightful honour and dignity was accorded to our African heroes,” Kamba said.
Mr. Kamba has also called on Patriotic Front youths to restrain themselves even under extreme provocation, insisting that it was the duty of the Police to maintain law and order.
He, however, warned that the PF would not take lightly any schemes by anyone to insult the Republican President.
