…UPND cadres opposed to HH 2021 presidential bid storm secretariat while others storm High Court

AN open revolt against Hakainde Hichilema standing for the 2021 general elections without a party convention yesterday resulted into a clash between two factions outside the UPND secretariat.
Slogan chanting cadres opposed to Mr Hichilema’s contesting the republican presidency gathered at the UPND secretariat demanding that the opposition party leadership should call for a convention in response to their vice-president for administration that no convention would be held.
While the cadres were chanting slogans demanding for the convention before the 2021 general elections, the faction that is pro-Hichilema confronted their colleagues and the camps clashed.
There was a fist-fight between the two warring factions but quick action by the Zambia police prevented the situation from degenerating into uncontrollable clashes.
