AN attempt to disrupt the commencement of the first ever oil exploration exercise in Zambia has been thwarted following a court order to discharge an interim injunction obtained against the Zambia/UK joint venture investment under Tullow Zambia BV.
According to an order of discharge granted by High Court Justice Petronella Ngulube, the court had ordered that the ex-parte order of interim injunction obtained by RAE Zambia Limited, a company that claims to have the rights to explore for possible oil deposits in Luapula and Northern provinces known as Block 31, has since been discharged forthwith.
RAE Zambia had earlier asked the High Court to restrain Tullow Zambia BV from going ahead with exploration works which they claimed would interfere in their enjoyment of benefits in line with the Petroleum Licence Number PEL/007 under provisions of Section 13 of the Petroleum (exploration and production) Act No 10 of 2008 which has since been canceled by the Ministry of Mines.
