CHIEF Chipepo of the Tonga people of Southern Province has urged Cabinet Ministers to scale up their efforts and translate President Edgar Lungu’s vision of making Zambia a better country into reality.
Chief Chipepo observed that President Lungu’s vision could only become a reality if ministers became more effective.
He told the Daily Nation that since inception, the President had proved that he had better plans for Zambia.
According to him, the plans could only work out if ministers became more committed towards sustaining, promoting and implementing the President’s vision.
“Looking back at the inauguration speech by President Lungu last year, everyone could tell that the President has a great vision for this country. But that vision cannot be achieved by the President alone, but with the people he is working with,
“It’s up to the ministers to work with the President, by being more effective and loyal so that they can translate this vision into reality. If the ministers do not fit into that vision, then there will be a problem, but if they remain committed to the President’s vision, everything will move smoothly,” Chief Chipepo said.
He reiterated that ministers must work extremely hard to make Zambia a better country and also improve the living standards of the people.
The traditional leader cautioned the ministers to ensure that they put the interests of the Zambian people first.
Chief Chipepo said ministers should realise that they were not appointed to play or enjoy, but to give a service to Zambians. “Ministers must work hard, they were not appointed to relax and enjoy. There is no time to enjoy; this is the time that each and every Zambian should work hard,” he said.
