AN initiative called ‘‘Innovation Park’’ aimed at promoting industrialisation through small and large business companies has been introduced at this year’s Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) which opens its doors to the public tomorrow in Ndola.
The ZITF, which will run from 28th to 4th of July, will be held under the theme “Innovation for Industrialisation”.
ZITF board chairperson, Monde Jane Kabwela, said in an interview that the Innovation Park initiative was in line with the theme which echoed Government’s industrialization policy.
“Government has put up an industrialisation policy and we are saying to achieve it, business houses need to be innovative; we need to start doing things in a different way or at least improve on what is already existing,
“Innovation has no boundaries, it does not matter the size of the company. Once we start doing things in a different way, then we are bound for success. We feel we have a mandate to drive innovation through this trade fair,” she said.
Ms Kabwela explained that the enhancement of economic progress could only come through innovation and hard work.
She said the ZITF board wanted to promote trade in Zambia through the ZITF.
“The trade fair mandate is to promote trade and business, so we are hoping that the messages in line with our theme will be accepted by business houses and add value to products and services while contributing to economic success,” she said.
Ms Kabwela said this year’s ZITF had attracted 15 foreign and 497 local exhibitors.
She explained that the 15 foreign exhibitors would be represented by 74 exhibitors.
