My heart is bleeding when I look at North-Western Province, in particular Solwezi holistically; the negligence of the council to work on the roads in Solwezi is so alarming.
This is supposed to be a council that is supposed to be putting things in order, where the populaces of Solwezi are proud.
But alas, I have to say that these people are orchestrated to be in government offices for what they can get and not what they can provide, all at the expense of poor Zambians, yet producing nothing.
These people are not instituting any good; they are a terror to the people of Solwezi, because the number of accidents in Solwezi is escalating due to these pathetic roads.
They are eating well, dressing fashion designers clothes, sleeping comfortably and their children going to the most expensive schools without minding the state of the roads in Solwezi.
I am not saying they can’t look good, but if what they do grieves us, then it is an atrocity to the hearts of many Zambians and Solwezi residents.
This is the true definition of sedition (treason); they have betrayed their nation and the true value of a Zambian patriot.
The generation to come will laugh at them to scorn. Solwezi sits on three (3) big mines; Lumwana, Kalumbila and Kansansh; of which Kansanshi is the second largest copper producer in Africa, yet the town is subjected to recklessness, poverty and roads that look like they are grave yards.
It’s a sordid shame to see the leaders in Solwezi council behaving like terrorists, actually to me they are not leaders, they are robots and their legacy will be a total failure.
The question is what message are they sending to a young man like me, is this what they want us to do as well when we get in their positions? I have lost confidence in the Solwezi Council.
Solwezi rise and wake up from slumber and from the ashes. WHAT IS RDA DOING ABOUT IT? The Mayor seems he has no concern and direction over these matters. What are the Minister of North-Western province and the Minister of Transport and communication doing about this?
Equally the minister of information is just sited idle, can’t they talk about these matters. In fact the council should explain to the people of Zambia and the people of Solwezi in particular as to where they took the money which was supposed to be for construction of township roads.
They should explain where they took the released sum of K222 million (Old currency – K222 Billion) for construction of township roads in Solwezi district, a good road network is inevitable for development in Solwezi. But alas, not even a single road has been graded or tarred.
According to me, that money is missing, because if it was there, we would have seen progress on ground.
To me, the Solwezi council is like Sanballant and Tobias in the book of Nehemiah, enemies of progress or development and friends of agony. Solwezi council should be under proper microscopic eye and forensic investigations, so that their perfidious ways and activities are uncovered.
There is something fishy that the council is hiding, a dark secret, if uncovered almost 90% of people working their will lose their jobs. If there is nothing that they are hiding, why are we seeing terrible roads as if it’s a deserted city or a ghost town?
When you look at the road that goes through the town Centre; it is more like the roads that goes to Kipushi boarder (Solwezi Congo road). There is no honor in these men and women working at the council, we can’t trust them anymore, they are a bunch of deceivers, their activities are always done in secret, and there is no transparency.
The only thing they know how to do best is to go and check on small businesses who are striving to provide for their families, to see if they have permits for trading and leaving the big issues that should be handled by competent people. The council is insufficient, incompetent and lacks the drive to do what a Zambia patriot has to do.
By now we would have had beautiful roads in Solwezi, but the council has been frustrating the effort of Kansanshi to help out work on roads, WHY???
Kalumbila Mine is producing uranium, capable of powering the whole nation with electricity. The road from Shoprite down to urban is a danger both to human life and as well as to motorists.
The council is corrupt, they are giving very big portions of land to the outsiders and the locals are becoming permanently helpless and hopeless to find land for themselves and yet they claim to be serving us the people of Solwezi, we need investigative journalists to visit this town and you will see what a Pandora box they will open, heads will roll.
I wonder what the RDA is doing in Solwezi as well. Where are the Institutions that are responsible for roads in
Zambia???
