A WOMAN only identified as Janet has died after she jumped off a fast moving GRZ vehicle driven by a drunk driver along the Bottom road in Chaanga area of Siavonga.
Eye witnesses, Genera Hakaye and Matuba Ward Councillor Sydney Simweemba have confirmed the incident to Daily Nation in Siavonga.
The witness narrated that the woman jumped off the moving vehicle a Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, after a fight ensued between the driver and his wife.
“We had gone to Chaanga to buy some beer using a GRZ vehicle and on our way back to Siamwiinga, the driver and his wife who were all in a drunken state started quarrelling and fighting while the vehicle was speeding. When Janet saw that the vehicle was swerving from side to side, she decided to jump out but unfortunately, she landed badly on the road.
The witness explained that Janet was then rushed to Chaanga Clinic before being taken to Chirundu Hospital for emergency treatment at around 19:00 hours but she later died from multiple head injuries.
Meanwhile, a Siavonga businessman and another passenger died on the spot on the Chirundu highway after the vehicle they were travelling in with a third person lost control and overturned.
