SENIOR Chief Kanongesha of the Lunda speaking of Mwinilunga has asked the government to consider constructing a secondary school in his
chiefdom.
Speaking when Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Lawrence Sichalwe called on him at his palace at the weekend, the traditional leader complained that his chiefdom was the only one without a secondary school.
He said the nearest secondary school was at Lwau Catholic Mission hence forcing pupils to cover long distances to access secondary education.
‘’We are now over 52 years, why are we still lagging behind in terms of education? This issue needs to be addressed,” the traditional leader said.
Senior Chief Kanongesha however thanked the government for connecting his chiefdom and the district to the national electricity grid. He said the electrification of his chiefdom will spur development in the area.
