A CONSORTIUM of civil society organisations has launched a pilot project aimed at strengthening social accountability and oversight in the health and agriculture sector as the key areas of the economy.
Speaking at the launch yesterday, ActionAid country representative Nalucha Ziba explained that the project was aimed at improving public service delivery in the agriculture and health sectors as there were the recipients of the highest budgetary allocation for social protection.
Ms Ziba said that the project would be implemented by a consortium under the Public Service Accountability Alliance which comprised ActionAid, Public Service Accountability Monitor (PSAM), Eastern and Southern Africa Small-scale farmer’s Forum (ESAFF) and SAfAIDS.
“This project seeks to improve public service delivery in two sectors namely the agriculture and health. In terms of the agriculture sector, the food security component has been targeted as it is key to eradicating hunger and poverty at household level,” she said.
