I WILL talk and criticize the government responsibly but I will never insult Edgar Lungu because right now he is the republican President and I have no problem with that so long I have this freedom, former PF Kafue Member of Parliament, Obvious Mwaliteta has said.
And Mr. Mwaliteta who was recently acquitted by the court on charges of aggravated robbery, disclosed that life in prison was hard, adding that the first two days when he was acquitted, he was hiding and never slept at home because he feared to be re-arrested.
“Life in prison is so hard that one would not even wish his worst enemy to go to prison. The last two days when I believed that I was completely freed and if you can ask my children, I was not sleeping at home… I was hiding and scared of my own shadow. I thought they could just come and pick me up again,” Mr. Mwaliteta said.
He said that he never believed that he was out of the correctional facility centre and a free man again.
Speaking when he featured on the Muvi Television’s Assignment on Sunday, the former Kafue MP said if only Zambians knew how hard it was to be in incarceration, they would not even wish their worst enemies to be imprisoned.
Mr. Mwaliteta, however, said that he holds no grudge against President Lungu and the police that arrested him, saying he had forgiven them.
He said that he used to laugh and joke with the police that arrested him even when he was in incarceration during the court sessions.
Mr. Mwaliteta, however, reiterated that he will offer checks and balances to the current government without showering insults at the Head of State.
