I WILL not hesitate to take punitive measures against any civil servants engaging in partisan politics in my Province, Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo has warned.
In an interview, Mr Kasolo said he would not hesitate to crack a whip on all those civil servants engaging in partisan politics.
He bemoaned the escalating high levels of reported cases of civil servants in his Province that were practicing partisan politics.
Mr Kasolo said it was obvious that there were some hired guns in the civil service that were advancing evil schemes targeting at suppressing the government efforts in uplifting the living standard of the people in the province, but warned them that they risked being suspended.
The PS stated that government workers should always be non-partisan adding that they must be seen to be supporting the government of the day in delivering development.
“I have received a number of reports of some civil servants engaging in partisan politics but let me warn them; I will not hesitate to take punitive measures against any civil servants engaging in partisan politics in my Province. “Government workers should always be non-partisan and they must be seen to be supporting the government of the day in delivering the much needed development,” he said.
He reiterated that it was imperative for him to urgently, firmly and decisively deal with politically motivated government officials in his Province if government was to register positive development in the province.
Mr Kasolo challenged those civil servants wishing to actively participate in politics to come out in the open and resign on moral groups so that they join active politics.
