THE Patriotic Front (PF) did not send anyone to attack members of the opposition UPND and other mourners as the party is way above petty provocation, says PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri.
And Ms Phiri advised Zambians to avoid being misled by a few evil-bent political opportunists that were willing to blatantly lie and malign people in a bid to win sympathy and cheap popularity.
She said in a statement that PF was aware that the disgruntled opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and its minions were out there to throw in any form of dirt at the PF.
Ms Phiri reiterated that the opposition party was ready to implicate the PF in a bid to gain some form of relevance in the political spectrum of the country.
She however declared that the ruling party was aware of all the tactics by the UPND to try and provoke the ruling party in the hope that it would stoop so low as to engage in a war of words with them.
“But as Michelle Obama would say, when they go low, we go high – that’s my message to our party members,” said Ms Phiri. Meanwhile, Ms Phiri also rubbished claims that she sent people to attack mourners at Memorial Park.
“I was even unable to attend our First Lady’s younger brother’s burial on Friday because I had travelled to the Copperbelt on Thursday for a family bereavement and thereafter party work,” she said.
