LET the fake prophets go to other countries because there is no room for magicians and witchcraft in Zambia, says Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili.
Reverend Sumaili said Zambia was a beacon of light in the World adding that there was no way that light could be mixed with darkness.
Speaking during the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zambia’s 30th Anniversary celebration in Lusaka yesterday, Rev. Sumaili said Zambia had Christian values and ethics and that magicians were not allowed in the nation.
She noted that it was not by accident that late republican President Fredrick Chiluba declared Zambia a Christian nation on December 29, 1991 but that he was inspired by the Holy Spirit.
“The battle has been drawn against all fake prophets. Light cannot be mixed with darkness… We will not allow darkness to mingle with light, in fact light always consume darkness.
“We are special people to God because it was not by accident that our late republican President Dr. Fredrick Chiluba declared Zambia a Christian nation on 29th December, 1991; he was inspired by the holy spirit,” Rev. Sumaili said.
Rev. Sumaili urged the church to hold on to Christian values and said that government was looking at the church as an equal partner in the human development process of the nation.
She said there was need for the churches to be involved in spiritual transformation through their preaching and outreach activities and invest in education, health, agriculture skills training and entrepreneurship development programmes.
“My ministry appreciates the role of the church in bringing development to all sectors in the country,” she said.
The Minister further urged the church to continue to pray for Zambia’s peace, unity and love adding that citizens should continue to honour God by adhering to the Christian virtues upon which Zambia was founded.
And speaking earlier at the same occasion, Apostolic Faith Mission in Zambia Presiding Bishop Jack Musumba recommended the Government for putting God at the centre of the country’s governance system through the creation of a ministry in charge of Religious affairs.
Bishop Musumba said a ministry could not stand if it was not for the God-fearing leadership and thanked the leadership in government for being God-fearing.
We recognize the support that the church has received from the government. And we thank God that he gave us leaders who fear him and desire to hounour Him in everything they do.
The declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation by late President Chiluba, creation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the declaration by President Edgar Lungu of October 18 as day of national prayer, fasting, repentance and reconciliation shows that we have leaders who fear and hounour God,” Bishop Musumba said.
The presiding bishop added that those spreading falsehood that there is no peace in Zambia should be ignored because they are not telling the truth.
