NATIONAL Restoration Party president, COZMO Mumba has given the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) 24 hours in which to give a report to Zambians on what they were doing over United Progressive Party (UPP) Dr. Saviour Chishimba’s corruption case cited in the Auditor General’s of-fice which he (Dr. Mumba) reported.
Dr Mumba’s complaint follows Dr. Chishimba’s staging of a one-man protest against alleged corruption at State House and blasted Zambians for watching the Under-20 World Cup game between Zambia and Italy “when people were suffering”.
After his protest outside State House, Dr. Chishimba headed to the Su-preme Court where he demanded for the establishment of a tribunal to probe the Malawi Maizegate scandal before going to the civic centre to demand for the termination of the 65-year lease agreement between China Henan and Government over the Luburma market.
Dr Chishimba is playing dangerous politics which could land him in trou-ble by issuing unsubstantiated claims that there is corruption at State House, Dr Mumba has warned.
But Dr. Mumba described the political path that Dr. Chishimba had taken as dangerous, saying there was no way he could continue demonising State House over alleged corruption when he had failed to name the peo-ple he thought were involved in the scourge and substantiate his claims.
He said it was folly for Dr. Chishimba to go to State House to protest against alleged corruption when he was personally cited in the AG’s report as having been involved in corrupt activities when he served as National Youth Development Council (NYDC) board chairperson where he alleg-edly syphoned millions of Kwacha.
“Dr. Chishimba was cited of engaging himself in corrupt activities by the AG’s report. Other than that, he served on a Government board when he was already a leader of an opposition political party. He is taking a very dangerous route in politics and should not blame anyone when he finds himself in problems for what he is doing.
“The AG’s report is in public domain. I reported him to ACC because there was overwhelming documentary evidence that he was involved in corrupt activates. He should stop behaving as if he is a clean man by de-monising others when his past stinks with corruption as shown by the re-port,” Dr. Mumba said.
