MTN/FAZ Super league leaders, Lusaka Dynamos have called on the Football Association of Zambia to sanction Nkana football club for using Walter Bwalya, a player believed to be of Congolese origin by the Lusaka Dynamos management.
According to a letter submitted to FAZ by Lusaka Dynamos Chief Executive Officer, Simata Simata, Walter Bwalya is not eligible to play in the Zambian league as he played in the Congolese league under a different name.
Simata said for any foreign player or a retuning Zambian player to play in the Zambian league, an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) has to be issued to the player before he can feature in any games.
“We hereby write to bring to your attention that the use of a player by the name of Walter Bwalya By Nkana FC is irregular. Therefore the player is ineligible to play in the Zambian league despite having played against us in the week 11 fixture played at Heroes Stadium,” Simata said in the leter submitted to FAZ. “Our investigations review that Walter Bwalya played in Congo under the name Herita Binene Sabwa for Corbaux FC in the 2010-2011 season while in 2012 he played for Lubumbashi sports FC.
“This qualifies him as a foreign player or a returning Zambian player requiring an international transfer certificate before he can play in the Zambian League,” Said Simata.
He added that according to Lusaka Dynamo’s investigations, there was no proof that FAZ had given Provisional permission for Walter to play in the local league.
“There is no evidence that you gave provisional permission for Walter to play. We call on you to apply the necessary sanction when it is found that the player is not eligible to play in Zambia,” said Simata.
Nkana Football Club president Evaristo Kabila however urged the Lusaka Dynamos management not to involve the 12 times league winners in its problems.
Speaking during an interview in Kitwe, Kabila said Lusaka Dynamos was a frustrated team after losing points for using an ineligible player in the game against Power Dynamos.
“The letter has been written with bad intentions. As Nkana Football Club we do not want to get involved with their disputes. Lusaka Dynamos is just a frustrated team having dropped points in the game against Power Dynamos for using an ineligible player,” Kabila said.
Meanwhile, FAZ Communications manager Desmond Katongo confirmed that Lusaka Dynamos had complained to the association over Nkana’s use of Walter Bwalya.
In an interview with Daily Nation Sports in Lusaka, Katongo said the Association was still studying the matter as the complaint only came in yesterday.
“As an association, we have received correspondence over the matter involving Lusaka Dynamos and Nkana and we are still looking into it as the complaint only came in today (yesterday), Katongo said.
