WARRING factions in Ndola have reconciled and suspensions and charges dropped so that the party in the area starts on clean slate, PF provincial chairperson Stephen Kainga has revealed.
Mr. Kainga said having heard from both parties during a meeting which the provincial leadership convened, it was resolved that there was need to put their differences behind them and embrace a spirit of oneness saying the leadership was compelled to discontinue disciplinary charges some officials were facing to facilitate the reconciliation process.
He said his executive noted that a lot had been said about the wrangles that had engulfed the parties involved which had the potential to deepen divisions within the party and that the best way was to bury the hatchet.
He also said Provincial minister Bowman Lusambo had made it clear that he did not have a problem working with the people he had differed with.
“It was resolved that the in- fighting within the party, particularly in Ndola district were reflecting badly on the party and there was need to instil party values for the good of our party. We have noted that so much has been said amongst our members and enough is enough. We do not need such divisions as the party is bigger than any one individual, thereby making it impossible to work as one if the party is fragmented.
“To this effect as provincial leadership and as a way of consolidating the reconciliation, we decided to discontinue the case against the mayor of Ndola Amon Chisenga and lift the suspension of party officials that were involved in the protests at Civic centre against the minister a fortnight ago. Mr. Lusambo has clearly stated that he has no problem with the said officials and is ready to work with them,” Mr. Kainga said.
He challenged the leaders to desist from interfering with each other’s office and appealed to members of the public to feel free to engage with the mayor and the provincial minister as both operated on an open-door policy and were ready to dialogue with anyone who had issues that needed their attention.
“We wish to appeal to all party members in the province to work with the Provincial Minister and the Mayor as they have both stated that they have an open door policy. We further wish to appeal to all members to embrace our two leaders and refrain from interfering in these two offices for the betterment of not only party members but the people of the Copperbelt.
“We also wish to reiterate party secretary general Davies Mwila’s directive on any members issuing official statements without prior consent from the Provincial leadership,” he said.
