SPORTS men and women in the defence services should maintain discipline and hard work to be recognized after retirement, says Exodus Boxing promotions manager Anthony Mwamba.
Mwamba said discipline and hard work was required for sports men in the service to excel.
He said this after the Zambia Army presented him the 2017 sports award in recognition of his valuable contributions and splendid performance.
Mwamba hailed Zambia Army for honoring him with the award which he dedicated to his former trainer Vincent Mudenda.
He thanked the Zambian government for its efforts in improving the standards of sports in the country.
“I want to thank God for winning the 2017 sports award in recognition of valuable contributions and splendid performance during last year’s sports session,
“I am dedicating this award to my former coach WO1 Vincent Mudenda. I want to, through the leadership of President Edgar chagwa Lungu, thank the government of the Republic of Zambia,” said Mwamba
Mwamba thanked the Zambia Army for making him what he was today.
“I fought many fights and because of being determined and hardworking, I came out top in all my fights that is why I always advise sports men and women in uniform, to work hard if they want to be recognized after retirement from the Army,” Mwamba said
Mwamba also hailed Exodus Stables boxing management lead by chairman Lieutenant-Colonel Jack Mbewe.
Among the sports men and women who were honored at the awards gala held last Friday in Lusaka were former Chipolopolo international Emmy Musonda who was remembered for his service in the army.
