CONGRATULATIONS Alfred keep your head down my boy. Respect boxing. You are the next world champion, South African boxer Dalisizwe Komani’s manager Mosoli Tempi has said.
Muwowo defended his African Boxing Union (ABU) Flyweight title on his first attempt with a 3rd round knockout win over 35-year-old Komani of South Africa.
Muwowo mesmerised the boxing fans who trooped to Government Complex with his steady punches which were unbearable for Komani who gave up on the ABU Flyweight belt in the third round of the fight after a well-timed punch which sent the South African boxer to the canvas.
And speaking after witnessing his boxer knocked out Tempi said that the Zambian boxer had the potential to be the next world champion.
Tempi however noted that there was need for the 20 year old boxer under Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) to maintain discipline as he was the next big thing in the sport of boxing.
“I said it before. This boy has the potential. I said that he is the future, he proved today that he can go far. Chris, how I wish you can groom this boy he is the next big thing,
“I haven’t seen something like this in a long time. Congratulations Alfred. keep your head down my boys. respect boxing. You are the next world champion. I’m not saying this because I’m here but because of what I have seen in that boy. He is really good,” Tempi said.
And Muwowo said he would continue to work hard to achieve his target of being the best boxer.
Muwowo, who recently changed his name to Muhamad Ibrahim Alfred Muwowo after becoming a Muslim, thanked his Allah for helping him defend his ABU Flyweight title.
“I’m feeling good. First of all I would like to thank my Allah. Because without him I can’t do nothing. I wasn’t expecting my opponent to give me a good fight but he is a good boxer,” Muwowo said.
Meanwhile Minister of Sport Youth and Child Development Moses Mawere congratulated Muwowo and all the Zambian boxers who respectively won their fights at Government
Complex.
Mawere urged the boxers to continue working hard, noting that they had the potential to conquer the world.
“Allow me to congratulate Muwowo and the Zambian boxers who won today all of them have shown that Zambia is a boxing nation. As a minister I’m proud to be superintending over this sport,
“This is a special gift to the people of Zambia. This shows that the policies we have put in place are bearing fruit and we are happy that we are doing well,” Mawere said
