LEGENDARY cup fighters “Mighty” Mufulira Wanderers will look for their second win of the season when they host arch-rivals Power Dynamos whose target is to shoot to the summit of the Super League.
The much anticipated Week 8 match will be played at Shinde Stadium this afternoon, with Wanderers coach Wilson Mwale confident his lads can carry the day.
Wanderers, who are languishing in the relegation zone with four points, will be coming into the game a motivated side having broken the losing spell on Wednesday when they beat Nkwazi 2-0 at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.
But Power will be breathing fire having battered Konkola Blades 5-0 on the same day to move to second place, on joint 14 points with leaders Zanaco.
“Power is a big team, it will be a tough game. The team (Wanderers) is improving and not leaking goals, so the target is definitely to win,” Mwale said.
Mwale will look to Joseph Kanema and Guily Manziba to replicate their scoring abilities in the Nkwazi match. A win will push Wanderers to seven points and edge them away from the spectre of relegation.
Power will bank on the mesmerising performances of goal poacher Larry Bwalya, who scored a brace on Wednesday, as well as Jimmy Ndhlovu and
Govenda Simwala.
Power coach Dan Kabwe has said his side intend to shake Shinde Stadium.
“This is a big match for us, we want a win to go on top,” he said.
The two teams last met in October at Kitwe’s Arthur Davies Stadium when the match was abandoned after assistant referee Lewis Mumba was injured by an object thrown from the stands.
This saw the FAZ disciplinary committee award Wanderers three points.
In other fixtures, Nkana will be away against Real Nakonde at New Ground in Nakonde. Nkana is also eyeing the top slot, hence targeting to overcome the
new-comers from the north.
Forest Rangers host Napsa Stars who have proved to be in-form this season. Napsa coach Tenant Chilumba was a satisfied man on Wednesday when his boys walloped City of Lusaka 5-2 and hopes to pull another
surprise at Trade Fair Grounds.
Wounded Konkola Blades, who were humiliated by Power this week, host Lusaka Dynamos while Kabwe Warriors is away in Mazabuka against the “Sweet Boys” Nakambala Leopards.
Green Buffaloes host City of Lusaka at Lusaka’s Independence Stadium in a mouth-watering Lusaka derby.
