PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Kwacha Member of Parliament (MP) Joe Malanji has said he is confident that the Zambia Army staff carrying out rehabilitation works on the dilapidated ablution blocks at the Copperbelt University (CBU) will undertake quality works.
Mr Malanji said the works would give a face-lift to the once dilapidated ablution blocks at the university.
Mr Malanji, who is Foreign Affairs Minister, was speaking on Monday afternoon when he donated toilet pans, tiles, tiles fix and other assorted items worth K150, 000 to be used in the rehabilitation of the ablution blocks.
“As MP for Kwacha I thought I should go an extra mile to donate these items to be used in the rehabilitation of the dilapidated ablution blocks. The items which include toilet pans, tile fix are worth K150,000.
“With the good workmanship of the Zambia Army officers and this donation, I am sure that the ablution blocks will receive a face-lift,” Mr Malanji said.
Mr Malanji urged the students to ensure that they guard the ablution infrastructure jealously after the rehabilitation was completed, saying it was retrogressive to spend money on one project when there were other projects waiting to be worked on.
“Our students ought to be responsible and start guarding the infrastructure jealously. Once these ablution blocks are rehabilitated, the students should look after them properly,” he said
And receiving the donation, CBU Deputy Vice-Chancellor Shadreck Chama said the donation will go a long way in supporting the rehabilitation of the ablution blocks.
“The MP has always been supportive to CBU. The rehabilitation of the ablution blocks is one of the areas where the MP has supported the institution. So we must say, we are grateful for his support,” Professor Chama said.
