COPPERBELT Minister Bowman Lusambo has directed Ndola City Council to suspend all land activities at Dola Hill until sanity is brought forthwith.
Mr Lusambo said he was saddened that party officials were engaging in illegal land allocation.
He has also ordered that all plots bought from cadres in Ndola to be declared null and void.
He said the act was not in the interest of the party and all indisciplined cadres would be dealt with.
He was reacting to reports that PF cadres have invaded land belonging to Northrise University and China Henan Gauji and were allegedly started selling pieces of land to members of public.
The action by the cadres was confirmed by Ndola Mayor Amon Chisenga who Mr Lusambo directed to suspend any councillor involved in illegal land allocation.
“I am pledging to support the work of the council and ensure that the named person in forefront of demarcating land at Dola Hill is brought to book,
“It is not in the interest of the party and government
to see land being encroached on by cadres and indiscipline members of public should be dealt with,” the minister said
And speaking during council meeting where Mr Lusambo was present, Mr. Chisenga expressed disappointment with the action taken by the party members.
He said that the land encroached on was on title, adding that
the cadres had gone further to threaten council officers.
“The trend by the cadres to grab land and start demarcating
it to themselves and selling to members of the public is not good,
“I do not know this person identified as Mujomba , people have told me that he is the culprit. I want to state clearly that I will not allow the cadres to disregard the work of the local authority,” he said.
Mr Chisenga emphasized that only the council had the mandate to allocate land to members of the public.
He warned that all those found wanting will face the wrath of the law.
Mr Chisenga has since urged the Ndola district PF executive to caution the cadres to desist from engaging in such illegality.
